Industrial Fabrics Welding

Whether you’re constructing awnings, banners, truck tarps, pool covers, inflatables, tents, membrane structures, or any other project from industrial fabric, Leister fabric welding tools give you superior results.

Done correctly, heat welding provides a bond that is as strong as the original material; secure enough for outdoor or high-strain installations, welds are clean and accurate enough to join banner pieces.

The Leister HEMTEK ST: Smart Efficiency

The HEMTEK ST is Leister's new stationary industrial fabric welder. Easy to mount to almost any work surface – use while sitting or standing. Welds hems, pole pockets, piping, and overlap seams with a simple guide change. No need to prepare or finish welding with hot-air hand tools, the HEMTEK welds from edge to edge.

Choosing an Industrial Fabrics Joining Method: Gluing, Sewing, or Welding
There are several different joining methods for industrial fabrics including gluing, sewing, chemical welding, and heat welding. The type of project, where it will be used, and the desired lifespan of the final product all affect the choice of method.

Why Your Hot Air Tool Needs Airflow
Inside every Leister hot air tool is a heating element composed of a ceramic honeycomb supported resistance wire filament (See below). Electric resistance wire heaters work on the principle that when electrical current passes through a conductor heat is generated, and the amount of heat generated is related to the resistance of the conductor.

Indoor Swimming Pool in Almaty, Kazakhstan Refurbished with Leister

The “D-Fitness” swimming pool (formerly the “Dynamo”) in Kazakhstan’s former capital and largest city, Almaty, was built in 1930. It was the only indoor swimming pool with 50-metre (164 ft) lanes, corresponding with Olympic standards, in the entire country until 1967. The need for refurbishment was so obvious by 2012 that a fundamental overhaul was initiated.

Creating Infrastructure at the World Winter Swimming Championship in Russian
For the Winter Swimming World Championship in Russian Tura a pool basin was needed that could be implemented without heavy construction equipment. Klyaksa 72, an advertising company, is used to think out of the box and built the basin out of strong PVC mesh. Klyaksa could count on the great service of Olmax and Leister‘s UNIPLAN E hot air welder turned out to be indispensable for creating infrastructure.

Welding Thin Industrial Fabrics

Our previous article covered Finding the Right Welding Parameters for your Industrial Fabric. In brief, the differences between brands, coatings, composition, textures, and environmental factors mean that each material and environment require a different combination of speed, temperature, and air flow to achieve a good weld. This article provides tips specifically for welding thin materials.

Why you Can’t Measure Air Temperature with a Laser IR Gun and a Simple, Effective Alternative
While Laser IR Thermometers are an extremely common tool, they are entirely ineffective for measuring the outlet temperature of an air heater. To understand why, we must first understand how this tool works. Laser IR Thermometers measure the surface temperature of an object by measuring the thermal energy emitted by the target. Knowing the amount of thermal energy discharged and the emissivity of an object’s surface, the objects temperature can be determined by the device.

How Ink Type Effects Welding: Solvent vs. Water-based Inks
Large format printing of banners can produce a stunning final product. Very large banners require the joining of two or more pieces of material by welding, stitching, or gluing. When welding two banner pieces together the type of ink used becomes an important consideration.
