JetAir Improves Quality and Production Speed at SC Bluwood

The ChemFuse SC Bluwood plant in Colton, Ca uses a two-part coating process that is applied to lumber for residential building lumber and protects the wood from the damaging effects of fungi rot, mold, and wood ingesting insects. They were having difficulties wherein the coating could not be applied perfectly evenly which then resulted in a rough finish.
After a thorough search of air knife companies, and after trying a variety of solutions including brushes and squeegees, ChemFuse chose JetAir Technologies to provide a High-Speed Centrifugal Blower Air Knife System to assist in their coating process. ChemFuse chose JetAir because of their advanced technology and industry leading expertise with VFD driven Direct Drive Blowers. JetAir’s application engineers worked losely with the SC Bluwood team to ensure that the custom Air Knife system would solve their problem.

The VFD and Direct Drive technologies allowed ChemFuse to find and dial in the exact performance point needed for the application thereby allowing them to get the required performance without wasting any excess energy. The precision engineered LXC Air Knife provided ChemFuse with a consistent laminar flow of air ensuring that a smooth, uniform coating would be applied to the lumber.

“The JetAir system is doing aexactly what I need - smoothing our proprietary Bluwood coating,” says Michael Malaban of ChemFuse. “It is easy to use and we really enjoy the technology.”

JetAir Technologies, LLC designs and manufactures High-Speed Centrifugal Blowers, Air Knives, and Drying/Blow-off systems with Direct Drive Technology. Typical drying or blow-off applications include cans, bottles, and jars; construction materials; fruits and vegetables; electronic, metal, or plastic parts; and textiles. Current customers include Coca-Cola Bottling, Johnson Controls, Kroger Bakeries, Nestle, Kraft Foods, and more.
