VULCAN Tips

4/7/2017

Note: The blower motor is 3-phase. Make sure that the phases are connected so that it is blowing forwards, not backwards, or the heat of the element will damage the parts behind the element. See below for installation instructions:
    • Connect the 3 phases
    • Power it up just long enough to start the motor, and disconnect the power
    • Watch the fan at the air intake, below the red knob. As the blower slows to a stop, check that the fan is turning clockwise.
    • If the blower is turning counter-clockwise, disconnect any two of the three phases and switch them (so that 1-2-3 becomes 2-1-3 or 1-3-2 or 3-2-1)
    • Repeat step 1 to 3.

After heating the VULCAN, always run it cold for 10 minutes before turning it off. Otherwise the element and parts behind the element may be damaged.

Symptom:  After heating, tool will not cool down completely (VULCAN E only)
  • Leister is aware of this and there is no solution at this time.  If the surrounding air temperature is cold the VULCAN E will cool down completely, but in warmer surrounding temperatures the VULCAN E will not cool lower than 70C.  Turning off the VULCAN at this temperature will not harm it, as long as the air intake is not blocked.
