Relatively few people realize that for a variety of industrial manufacturing applications, from air knife drying to simple blow-off nozzles, the use of high pressure compressed air that bleeds into the atmosphere represents a significant waste of energy. This is confirmed by the Compressed Air Challenge, a compressor industry organization, that calls it “an inappropriate us of compressed air.” This costly waste of energy can be eliminated by replacing the use of compressed air with the installation of a high-speed blower. Beyond providing industrial process air at a fraction of the cost, high-speed blowers generally provide better results in drying and blow off situations.
Donnie White, Facility Maintenance Manager at Rich Foods-SeaPak in Brunswick, GA, contacted JB Systems and JetAir Technologies about using a high-speed centrifugal blower based system to replace their compressed air blow-off station on their breading lines for frozen seafood. JB representatives visited the facility and worked with JetAir engineers to find the right blower to remove the excess bread crumbs form the line.
Georgia Pacific, LLC (Antioch, Ca) contacted JetAir Technologies last year about using a high-speed centrifugal blower and air knife to help remove fiberglass particles from large gypsum panels. GP' state-of-the-art gypsum technology replaces the traditional paper element of wallboard with a "fiberglass mat," adding to the stability and sustainability of the finished product. When the boards are cut a fine dusting of fiberglass that is very hard to remove is spread across the surface of the boards.
Catalytic Solutions turned to JetAir to develop a low maintenance system to control coating thickness on their innovative automotive exhaust systems. JetAir Technology’s belt-free Direct Drive Blower design coupled with a modern turbine provided Catalytic the air flow performance needed to precisely control their coating process, avoiding the costly maintenance and changeover expenses common with competitor's high-speed belt-drive centrifugal systems. In addition, because JetAir systems are Variable Speed Controlled, Catalytic could adjust and pre-set speeds to eliminate any line confusion or process variables resulting in increased production and quality.
The ChemFuse SC Bluwood plant in Colton, Ca uses a two-part coating process that is applied to lumber for residential building lumber and protects the wood from the damaging effects of fungi rot, mold, and wood ingesting insects. They were having difficulties wherein the coating could not be applied perfectly evenly which then resulted in a rough finish.
McDermott Welding and Fabrication of Kersey, PA designs and fabricates fully Automated Parts Oilers for use in the manufacturing of a wide variety of steel parts and components used by the Automotive Industry; anywhere from small automotive sprockets and drill parts to larger converting rods and transmission gears. The Automated Parts Oiler (APO) applies an anti-rust inhibitor to the parts and is a necessary final component of the parts manufacturing process, completing the finishing and adding protection during packaging and shipping.
Pall Medical, a major medical supplier based in Southern California, approached JetAir Technologies about supplying a system that could dry a new blood collection bag they had developed.
The new bags were scheduled for use in both North America and Europe and the medical company was searching for a viable solution to meet the rigorous safety standards necessary in the medical industry. After sterilization, the bags must be completely dry to avoid any mold or contamination that can arise after the bags are packaged and shipped. Europlast srl (Bari, IT), a major European producer of Polystyrene and PLA plastic films for use in the packaging and lamination industries, approached JetAir Technologies' Italian representative, Oil Service srl (Botticino, IT), with their problems drying continuous sheets of plastic film after a washing process.
One of the nation’s largest producers of lead acid batteries chose JetAir Technologies innovative drying systems to address major quality control issues with large scale shipments of batteries to important automotive end users. Click image to enlarge.
Process improvements in one area can often have beneficial side-effects across an entire line. Read more to learn how JetAir Technologies’ High-speed centrifugal blowers and air knife systems can improve the bottom line in more ways than just one.
