Customer Challenge - Specialty Lid Drying
Our customer asked us to improve the drying of metal lids for a new jar design for a processed food product. The lids featured a rolled-over edge which tended to trap moisture resulting in corrosion along the edge. The challenge was that the rolled- over edge was very tight and the packaged material was very viscous and sticky. We designed and built a special air knife drying system using our can top dryer technology from Secomak. The system has allowed our customer to increase line speed and minimize package defects.
Special Hot Air Nozzle Application
Sometimes our customers need special nozzles fabricated to suit specific product applications. In one particular case, our customer, an automotive parts supplier, had changed adhesive to improve performance and cost. Unfortunately the new adhesive did not cure fast enough. The customer asked us to develop a hot air system that would assist in speeding up the curing rate of the adhesive.
We designed a hot air system with custom fabricated nozzles to accurately deliver the hot air to the parts which sped up the cure rate of the adhesive. The system integrated directly into the customers PLC controls.
