Air Knives & Air Knife Systems

|
How are we different? Our Air Knives
are specifically designed to deliver a continuous sheet of precisely controlled high velocity air for stripping away
moisture and debris from virtually any surface. The energy costs are much lower with a STANMECH air knife system than alternative methods of drying, so our systems' payback is very favourable.

We manufacture all of our air knives from stainless steel to provide the maximum flexibility for most applications. We design and develop our air knives for each specific application to maximize your process efficiency and minimize acquisition and operating costs. We manufacture each air knife to our customers’ specific requirements. Our designs are based on either 2” or 3” air inlets for 2” to 72” in length.

Because of our expertise in the application of heated process air, we can add an inline hot air source (up to 300°C) to any of our knife systems, should more drying power be required in specific applications such as high humidity. We are the exclusive Canadian distributor for JetAir Technologies and we specify JetAir blowers for all our air knife systems. All JetAir blowers use Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controlled high-speed blower technology which results in longer blower life, better blower system reliability, better blower efficiency and reduced system costs over conventional belt driven blower systems. We supply JetAir blowers in 5 to 40 horsepower with flow rates from 200 to 2300 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) and pressures for 20 to 200 inches of water. Click here for the complete technical information on our complete line of air knife blowers.

Straight knives are used in most conveyor line applications such as drying sheet material, boards, extrusions, bottles, jars, cans, components & castings. By adjusting the slot width of the air knife, we can optimize both blower and air knife performance for each specific application. Medium power smaller knives (less than 24” in length) can be used for applications where limited space exists. Our well-designed mounting brackets allow the end-user to make adjustments to height, width, and angle of the air knives.

Circular air knives made of stainless steel are used for drying continuous moving applications such as extruded PVC tubing, wire, steel tubing, etc. These knives are designed to replace the high cost of compressed air systems. Our complete system uses very low energy, which provides a fast payback on the system. Wide diameter circular air knives are used for plastic extrusions, large diameter cables and continuous strips. An adjustable aperture allows the airflow to be adjusted to suit each specific application. Small diameter circular air knives are used for rubber extrusions, plastic coated wire, and small diameter continuous strips.
